Professor William (Bill) Rees and The Ecological Footprint:

How to Avoid Being Trampled on the Path to Sustainability

Though it is improbable that Professor Rees will ever truly retire, his recent shift from full-time professor (University of British Columbia) to a sought after guest lecturer, has heralded a significant change in the life of the man behind Ecological Footprint Analysis.

This uncut, unedited interview with Professor Rees was filmed towards the conclusion of his time at UBC. Within it, Bill speaks to the concept of the Ecological Footprint, modern economics, the Earth’s carrying capacity, politics and political apathy, and the need to alter human-kind’s current trajectory.

Thanks very much to Professor Rees for his involvement in our film, and for his continued contributions to that most abstract of goals, the pursuit of genuine sustainability.
